Artists’ Book
The fractured and fragile beauty of Covehithe
Handmade by Rosie Andersen.
Green hard covers with hemp and bead tie. Original gel-plate monoprint. Covehithe is probably Suffolk’s wildest beach, and only accessible on foot. It is known for its strangeness, its eerie quality and because of coastal erosion, the jagged, sand-blasted tree trunks that lie on the beach where once they stood on the cliff top above. The ruins of a 14th century church now lie not far from the eroding cliffs and ultimately will have the same fate. This 4 page concertina book reflects those sculptural trees that rest on the beach together with the windows of the ruins.
